IPads for More than Just Games: Math Apps for Kids, Tweens and Teens

We bought the kiddos tablets for Christmas with the intention that they would use them for reading.  Instead the tablets have become a warehouse of different gaming apps.  The tablets were ‘gotta haves’ when the kiddos first got them. They had to take them in the car, to grandma’s house even when we went shopping.  At one point and time we contemplated setting schedules for when and how long they could have them.  That is until the tablets suffered the fate that befalls most toys: disinterest.  Disinterest or not, those tablets weren’t cheap.  My husband and I don’t see the tablets as just an electronic device for the kiddos to use.  We also see them as the days and hours we spent at our laptops working, putting together the money so that they could be bought.  So kiddos mama’s got news for you.  The tablets will no longer be the place where you store your highest score for Subway Surfer, not ahh – I’m making room for math apps!
