Cool Down in the Summer Heat with Ranch Dressing

Today we reached day eleven, that’s ten plus one, of over one hundred degree temperatures.  We won’t see any break in the heat for another four days.  My strategy to deal with the heat?
  1. Anybody in the house is forbidden to open up a blind.
  2. All doors that can be closed (i.e. to the bedroom, laundry room and even play room) have been so ordered to remain closed until the sunsets.
  3. The oven will be cut on only, and I mean only, if absolutely necessary.
This means that I may get strange looks from my family, seriously spoiled with a meat and potato diet, when they get to the table and see a salad.  Yes, a salad.  If they must have meat it will be from tuna or chicken, cold tuna and chicken.  They’ll get over it, in about four more days when I feel cool enough to turn the oven back on.
