Growing up what was your favorite summer drink? Mine? Soda, preferably orange or strawberry. I drank those things like it was ice cold water. Who knew that all the dye and sugar wasn’t really meant for human consumption? No one in the seventies and eighties on my block that’s for sure. Today, however, is a new day. Now that the kiddos are in the thick of summer I definitely don’t plan on handing them soda. They know soda is only allowed for special occasions, i.e. a large family gathering like cookouts and birthday parties – I know poor things, they live a hard knock life. In between sips of cold water I am serving up this strawberry lemonade to the kiddos, and guess what? I am already raking in the thank you's!! Sweet!
Ingredients:10 lemons 14 cups of warm water (so the sugar can dissolve faster) 2 ½ - 3 cups sugar (depending on the sweetness of the strawberries) 2 tbsp. lime juice (optional but good) 15 strawberries (about one cup) hulled
Directions:Squeeze lemons. Add lemon juice to water, and then add sugar. Liquefy strawberries in blender. Strain liquefied strawberries. Mix strained strawberry with lemonade mix.
Have a wonderful weekend with the family!!
