Mother-Son: Batter Onion Rings
We have now officially entered Daddy Daughter Dance season. I love to see all the pics of dads (and stand in dads) with daughters decked out in their Sunday best. Since we have two daughters we are fortunate that our kiddos school allows daddy’s to bring along any extra daughters in the house (for an extra fee of course). With both daughters gone this leaves me and my son looking at each other like, ‘what should we do’? I figure with the girls gone with their dad, the son and I should make mother-son alone time special. Special for us means turkey burgers, hot chocolate and instead of French fries onion rings. Yum!
Ingredients:2 medium onions 1/2 cup buttermilk 3-4 shakes of hot sauce 1 beaten egg 1 cup flour 3/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1 tsp garlic salt 1 tsp Tony’s seasoning 1 tsp lemon pepper
Slice onions to desired thickness. Take a part rings. Mix flour and seasonings. Remove half of seasoned flour into another bowl.
Combine buttermilk and hot sauce.
Dredge onions in buttermilk-hot sauce mixture.
Next dredge onions in seasoned flour.
Transfer onion rings into beaten egg then into other half of flour and repeat.
Have a wonderful weekend with the family!!
