New Year’s Resolutions: I Got Vision

New Year’s Resolutions: I Got Vision

What are your plans for 2015?  Normally my New Year’s includes prepping black eyed peas, collard greens and cleaning my house from top to bottom, all the while envisioning a possible list of New Year’s Resolutions:
Cut down on cussing.
Be more patient.
Eat healthier.
Exercise more.
The usual.  My list really hasn’t changed that much since I was probably eleven or twelve (minus the cussing resolution of course).  Sad I know.  But this year I am throwing out my old list and creating a new one – from scratch.
I used to think that New Year’s Resolutions were about making minor tweaks or self-adjustments. Exercising three times a week for thirty minutes to change the way I look.  Learning how to muster all of my patience in the line at Walmart. A little self-evaluation this past year has let me know that I need to tweak more than a positive attitude while I wait to buy bargain groceries.
Lousy days arguing with a stubborn teen/child have made me appreciate all the more having good relationships with the kiddos now and in the future. And it was not lost on me with every birthday celebration we had that soon there will be no more soccer games to hurry to and no more school bell times to meet. I’d rather not look back after the kiddos are grown and gone and say I need to get started working on a career I love and getting to know my husband better.
This year no more singled out body parts or behavior to work on. I am grouping tweaks…major and minor, into either one of the following four categories:
Faith.
Family.
Career.
Friends.
I have already created a ‘Secret Board’ on Pinterest full of images (some of them I’ve found on stock images sites) that perfectly capture all that I desire to experience in this upcoming year. So far I have over one hundred pictures.  I plan to make a ‘hard copy’ for my office using a good ole fashioned poster board and pictures cut out from magazines.   For example:

Hopefully this time next year instead of  reevaluating failed resolutions while I am cutting collard greens I will be thinking about making edits and updates – to my vision that is.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2015?
