Cheesy Potato & Breakfast Turkey Sausage Casserole

 

Running short on time in the morning, but have more in the evening? This recipe works great if you have to leave for work in the morning before the kids.  You can prepare this at night, stick it in the refrigerator, put in the oven on low and the hubby or older kids can dish it out when you’re long gone for work!

Servings: 2 grown people, 1 teen and 2 little people.
Prep Time: 10 mins (Realistically, with kids around maybe 15 mins)
Cook Time: 45 mins -1 hour (Winner! You can walk away and do other things while this simmers)
Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

 

Breakfast Turkey Sausage

 

3 White Baking Potatoes

 

 

¼ cup of flour  
4 Tbls butter
1 cup Heavy whipping cream
1 ½ tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp pepper
2-2 ½ cups of sharp shredded cheese (or cheese of your choice)

 

Directions:

Peel potatoes and shred

 

Rinse as much starch as possible from potatoes

 

Brown turkey sausage in pan.

 

Butter up your casserole dish really well.

 

Once the turkey sausage has browned and you've crumbled it up, add flour and cream

 

After you've towel dried the potatoes, sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Then take turns layering dish with shredded potatoes and creamy breakfast turkey sausage mixture.

 

Save a half cup to ¾ cup of shredded cheese for the top layer.

 

 

Directions one more time:

  1. Butter up your casserole dish really well.
  2. Peel potatoes and shred.
  3. Rinse as much starch as possible from potatoes. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Then set aside.
  4. Take casing off of turkey sausage and then brown in pan.
  5. Once the turkey sausage has browned and you've crumbled it up, add flour and cream. Let simmer, thicken.
  6. Then take turns layering dish with shredded potatoes, half cup of shredded chesse and creamy breakfast turkey sausage mixture.
  7. Save a half cup to ¾ cup of shredded cheese for the top layer.
