Garlic Cheddar Biscuits…Our New Cornbread
I am a bread lover. I can’t help it. I get it honest. I blame it on my mama. She made cornbread on top of the stove whenever the mood hit her, which was usually at least two times a week. With neck bones, fried fish or Crowder peas and rice, cornbread was a staple that hung out on the edge of our plates. I am not necessarily a cornbread fan. But two (maybe even three) times a week I offer a slice of some type of white bread. I know wheat bread is better. And I do try my best to eat more wheat bread than white. But white bread…it’s like soda to me, a splurge wrapped in a nice serving of guilt and pleasure. The kiddos have taken on my bread habit. On any given meal, especially one that involves gravy, you are likely to find a biscuit hanging on the edge of our plates, not cornbread. I like to think I’ve started a new tradition, good or bad.
